Spider Vein Treatment
Laser Treatments of Spider Veins is a cosmetic procedure. The number of treatments depends upon the veins, hormonal status, area being treated and medications you take. Generally a minimum of 2-3 treatments are needed for facial vessels and 4-5 treatments are needed for the legs. Specific costs will be discussed at your initial consultation.
Spider veins are purple, blue or red in appearance and can appear on the legs and face. Spider veins appear in three basic shapes: linear, branch-like or in the shape of a spider, with a dark center point.
Nearly 70% of all women and 30% of men will develop some type of venous disorder. Spider veins are formed from pressure in the venous system. This pressure causes the smaller blood vessels to enlarge, creating spider veins under the surface of the skin. Although the exact cause of spider veins is unknown, there are many contributing factors including heredity, pregnancy, age, weight, standing for long periods of time and hormonal changes. Spider vein treatments can take care of veins you currently have, but will not prevent new veins from appearing in the future.Over time if new ones do appear, we can treat those also with our laser technology.
Spider Vein Treatment Prices
We use the "Cool Glide Excel" Cutera Laser System. Our experienced medical professionals preform this treatment.
The price is dependent on the area you wish to be treated. The cost will vary depending on the veins to be treated. Pricing starts at $100 for cherry hemangiomas (red dots) and $250-$350 for spider veins per treatment. It usually takes 2-3 treatments for facial vessels and 4-5 treatments for legs. Payment is due at time of each treatment.

Before Treatment
Make sure you are not sunburned
No sun exposure for 2 weeks prior to treament
Areas with tattoos cannot be treated. Avoid any irritants to the skin: Microdermabrasion, Retin-A, Renova, Benzoyl Peroxide, or Glycolic Acid products for at least 72 hours prior to each treatment
Discontinue aspirin and/or Plavix, garlic supplements and all herbal supplements 72 hours prior to treatment. (If prescribed by a doctor, get approval to discontinue)
Remove all makeup from area to be treated. Photographs will be taken at each visit. If treating your legs, many clients are more comfortable wearing shorts during treatment
After Treatment
Resume normal activities
Bruising, local swelling and some tenderness are completely normal after treatment. Bruising may be evident for up to 4 weeks after treatment. Other side effects are rare but may include: redness, blisters, swelling, crusting, pigment change (lighter or darker) or scarring
If you experience blistering or crusting, please call the office so that our medical staff can advise you on how to treat the affected area. Often it is as simple as treating the affected area with an antibacterial cream such as Bacitracin or Neosporin. This creates a chemical barrier and will help healing and prevent scaring. If there is swelling, wrap ice in a cloth and apply to affected area Use a Vitamin K cream twice a day for 1-2 weeks to speed healing. Massaging Vitamin K cream or "Dermal K" into the area has been reported to speed healing.
Avoid direct sun exposure for 7 days. Always protect the area with a sunscreen of SPF 30 or greater, reapply frequently, for at least 4 weeks
You can shower the next day, but avoid very hot water, hot tubs, and saunas for 1 week 10 days post treatment, begin to lightly massage treated area. This will speed healing and prevent "staining" Remember, you will not see immediate results. This will occur over a 3 week period and in some cases may take up to 6 weeks.
